born in the bay area,  raised in georgia and baltimore, and now based in brooklyn. while home was a place that was always changing, one thing that never changed for anike sonuga was a passion for the dramatic. it started with musicals at local community theatres, and by her junior year of high school she began branching out into film. her first short film, we be the same, went on to be an official selection for both the windy city international film festival and black femme film festival.

 

anike sonuga is now in her last semester at nyu, set to graduate in may with a bfa in drama and a minor in film production. in her accelerated degree and three years at nyu, she started at playwrights horizons theatre school, where she learned how to do everything from playwriting to lighting & costume design to meisner techniques to directing. after two years at playwrights horizons. anike switched to stonestreet studios for her last two semesters of her drama degree and shifted focus to the screen as opposed to the stage.

while film and theatre are anike's first loves, much like the bratz dolls, she has a passion for fashion. she also has been doing photography since she was a young child and loves specifically film photography to document her life.
